These latest additions to the Red Dragon Combat Range feature 3mm re-enactment safe edges and rounded tips. The blades are formed from tempered high-carbon steel (HRC Core of approx 48 and Edge 50-52) and fullered to ensure they are swift in the hand. Indeed a lot of time and effort has gone into make these blades as agile as possible whilst retaining a re-enactment safe edge.
The steel hilt fittings neatly sandwich the leather wrapped wooden grip and are held in place by a traditional peened tang. The leather wrapped wooden scabbard features a protective rain guard and metal chape. If you are part of a re-enactment group we recommend consulting your safety officer for guidance before purchase.

I first must say that I have yet to do any sparing with this so cannot speak to it's durability. However I do have some initial thoughts on how it handles. POB is indeed 11cm from the guard, and the grip is around 10.5cm in length. My example tips the scales at 925g. Not a featherweight but it's not a iron club either. Solid feeling, well balanced and weighed IMO.
Edges are indeed a good radiused 3mm and the tip is blunt without any corners. On the other hand it's not flared nor rolled over, so some HEMA types might not like it. On that note; the blade achieves it's weight distribution by having a quite notable taper in the profile, but has very little distal taper. This results in a blade with very little flex. Has no unwanted wobble to it, but it's going to hit hard in the thrust. Point of percussion is in a sweet spot though.
All in all, money well spent as far as I'm concerned.
